Martin uses Google SketchUp Version 6 for his 3d CAD Modelling. Google SketchUp 6 can be downloaded Free. (here) Remember version 6 includes the import DWG and DXF feature which has been removed from later versions, and thanks to Nathan at Guitar-List for the export DXF plugin

To help students and independent learners get started with Google SketchUp Martin has sourced SketchUp videos and created a worksheet.

The worksheet is (here)

(1) Video getting started with Google SketchUp (2016) can be found (here)

(2) Video help with importing 2d AutoCAD, and AutoSketch type DXF and DWG files for 3d Modelling can be found (here) Remember SketchUp 6 was the last free version to incorporate the import DWG and DXF filter.

It is recommended that those undertaking the 3d CAD element of the BTEC Unit 18 Assignment should be familiar with the techniques outlined in these videos

Some of the YouTube links in the 3d CAD worksheet below are obsolete but that should not stop independent leaners from completing the questions.
